Divorce

Divorce is painful. Each person deals with it differently, but for most people it is an emotionally wrenching experience. Whether you initiate the divorce or not, disentangling your life from another’s is often a messy, difficult, and painful process. Having young children further complicates things.

People in our lives want to support us. But, sometimes friends and family are too close to the situation and do not know what to say or how to help. A therapist can offer an objective, insightful, and grounding perspective. Some couples benefit from jointly talking with a counselor to ease out of their marriage. In other cases, things are more contentious and that is not feasible so seeking individual support is most beneficial.

Whatever the specific situation, people need hope and support during this difficult time and sometimes, after the initial turmoil has settled down.

I have 25 years of experience in working with people dealing with divorce. If you are contemplating divorce, are in the midst of it, or are struggling to recover from it, please contact me for help.
